This Saturday, join a CCL Zoom double-header to learn more about the major greenhouse gas emissions reductions made possible by the #InflationReductionAct.

Following the CCL National meeting, stay on Zoom but switch to an Omaha chapter meeting, to discuss what we have learned (and hopefully celebrate this significant legislation!!).

Join us for a screening of The Human Element and stay after for a post-screening panel discussion with Graham Christensen (Nebraska Farmers Union, GC Resolve), Luis Marcos (Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim), Grace Thomas (Verdis Group, Mode Shift Omaha), and Alison Freifeld, MD (UNMC) on human-led climate change, its effects on local communities in the Nebraska area, and how they can be addressed by actors on the ground. Moderated by Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Omaha Chapter.

CCL Picnic

Join us at Mahoney State park on May 21st and meet fellow CCLers and climate advocates from across Nebraska! There will be a potluck lunch and we will provide drinks and cookies.

Outline of activities:

10am – Optional pre-picnic gathering
11am – Welcome
12-1pm – Potluck lunch
1pm – Announcements and celebration of successes
2-5pm – Games and general socializing (stay as long or as little as you like)

Another way we build political will

The Omaha Chapter has done a good job of getting letters to the editor printed. Many have the added benefit of challenging our members of Congress to take actions. We have heard that they pay attention especially if the letter mentions them by name. Writing a letter to the editor is something anyone can do, and getting a letter published makes a big difference!
